Solid showing of contemporary art at the Investec Cape Town Art Fair

We took a break from the studio to go have a look at some fine contemporary art on display at the Cape Town Art Fair within the city’s CTICC. And we were suitably impressed.

There was a great mix of South Africa, African and international talent on display. A wide variety of media was used – with the photographic medium showing African artists preference for the camera lens. These artists often mix the fine art medium with cultural queues localised to African culture – specifically religious, tribal and historical narratives rendered sharply in the photographic medium. It makes for an interesting dichotomy of first world and third world textures. We feature some of our favourite pieces below. See you next year!
